to learn to love by loving
Explanation:
I would take a small liberty and expand it, borrowing the Iris Murdoch quotation. I think this is what's implied, and the literal "to love by loving" is rathe obscure:

"Iris Murdoch
We can only learn to love by loving."http://quotations.about.com/od/lovequotes/a/lovequotes23.htm

It's from The Bell, by the way.

"Often we do not achieve for others the good that we intend but achieve something, something that goes on from our effort. Good is an overflow. Where we generously and sincerely intend it, we are engaged in a work of creation which may be mysterious even to ourselves — and because it is mysterious we may be afraid of it. But this should not make us draw back. God can always show us, if we will, a higher and a better way; and we can only learn to love by loving. Remember that all our failures are ultimately failures in love. Imperfect love must not be condemned and rejected but made perfect. The way is always forward, never back."
Iris Murdoch, The Bell (Penguin), pp. 218-19.

Reminds me of Van Morrison's sublime Madam George: "And the love that loves the love that loves the love that loves the love that loves to love the love that loves to love the love that loves."

to love and be loved

Explanation:
I feel this is the meaning, and it has a good rhythm, especially for the final line - sounds just a little bit punchy, but not overly so

agree  Charles Davis: I prefer mine, but on reading yours I suddenly heard Nat King Cole in my head singing "The greatest thing you'll ever learn / is to love and be loved in return": quite wonderful.

  -> many thanks Charle! :)

agree  Jenni Lukac: George benson and Abbey Lincoln both have released incredible versions of the song that contains this line ("Nature Boy"). The line sings.

I know this is very similar to what Charles posted but I think that maybe this shorter version matches the rhythm a tiny weeny bit better.

to go on loving

Explanation:
Although the Spanish phrase contains amar and amando, as a contemporary American poet I would say "to go on loving" since that reflects the continuity in the Spanish phrase without unnecessary emphasis. Repeating the same root twice in American English sounds & feels heavyhanded to my ear. The prosody of yesterday is not valid in this modern sounding line.
Of course, IMHO.
