In psychological damage, the spiritual disturbance reaches pathological levels.
Explanation:
It's a convoluted sentence, but as I read it, he is saying that when someone is psychologically damaged it is a manifestation of an extreme (pathological) spiritual disturbance. I am not sure whether Anglo-Saxon practitioners use the category of 'spiritual disturbance' but the author is clearly differentiating between the psychological and the spiritual here.
