Spanish to English translations [PRO] Social Sciences - Psychology / personas con discapacidad intelectual | | Spanish term or phrase: caras cebo [in a line-up] | Spain: from a paper on the performance of persons with intellectual disability on identifying faces in a line-up
"Los valores obtenidos muestran que en todas las condiciones los sujetos, en general, son capaces de discriminar las caras objetivo de las caras cebo." [elsewhere in the paper we have "fotografías cebo"]
I know when it's real people in a line-up, the word is "decoy" but in this research they used photographs---not real people.
And googling for ["decoy photos" (or faces) + "police line-up"] I get ZERO hits.
So it appears there is some other term here when it's a photo/face opposite the "target" rather than a real person? Or do I just disregard Google and use "decoy faces" anyway? Thanks. |

| | filler (photo) / foil (photo) | Explanation: "Decoy" is used sometimes but the usual terms, I think, are "fillers" or "foils":
"A police lineup (in American English) or identity parade (in British English) is a process by which a crime victim or witness's putative identification of a suspect is confirmed to a level that can count as evidence at trial.
The suspect, along with several "fillers" or "foils"—people of similar height, build, and complexion who may be prisoners, actors or volunteers—stand side-by-side, both facing and in profile."

"Each line-up consisted of a target photo (i.e., the picture of the doctor or the nurse) and four foil photos (i.e., pictures of people who were similar in..."

" 1. Line-ups shall consist of one known suspect and seven filler photos/images.
2. If there are multiple suspects in a case, a different line-up shall be created for each suspect. Filler photos/images can not be used in more than one line-up.
3. Filler photos/images are selected based upon shared characteristics with the suspect photo . . ."
