Spanish term or phrase: manducación
...culminaba con la última experiencia sensorial a través del gusto: la manducación de la carne divina ("cuerpo de Cristo, sálvame; sangre de Cristo, embriágame", suplicaba Loyola).

Is there a specific term in Catholicism for this? I get the gist: the consumption of Christ's flesh.

No es literal pero me parece que lo más común para referirse al acto mismo de "comer" o "consumir" el cuerpo y la sangre de Cristo en el catolicismo es la "comunión".

Por otra parte ya que está hablando especificamente del acto de "saborear" la hostia consagrada, propongo la 2a.; espero no estar diciendo una aberración o un sacrilegio.
