Could someone tell me what the two words in caps at the end mean?

"La temperatura fue el primer parámetro estudiado. En el rango ensayado de 25? C a 50? C, la velocidad de reacción para cada sulfonamida aumentaba con la temperatura, pero también se aceleraba la descomposición del reactivo, provocando una disminución considerable de la extensión en que tenia lugar la reacción de interés. En la figura 2 se muestran los perfiles cinéticos a 570 nm del derivado del sulfatiazol, registrados a diferentes temperaturas de trabajo, donde se puede apreciar claramente los dos efectos.
Se optó por escoger la temperatura de 25?C para llevar a cabo el análisis, ya que de esta manera a pesar que la reacción no era demasiado rápida, se minimizaba la desaparición del reactivo DEL MEDIO."

25? C isn't standard room temperature in my house. It's 10 p.m. and I still have a fan blowing on me.
