Spanish term or phrase: Lo que se interpreta como que el efecto frente a la compatibilidad es nulo.
This is the middle portion of a long, long drawn-out sentence in a organic chem experiment. Any ideas how to phrase this part?
Brent Turnipseed
...which is interpreted as though the effect on compatibility were nil...
Explanation:
You could also recast the sentence, moving the subject term into this phrase: "...interpreted as though the XYZ had no effect on compatibility," which would be my choice, context permitting.

Alternatively, context permitting, "lo que se interpreta" might be rendered "...which should be interpreted..."

Nothing here is facing anything else, and "nil" is perfectly OK in (U.S.) technical English. The crucial bit, semantically speaking, is that "como que" = "as if" or "as though" -- or, just possibly, "to mean that" (once again, context allowing), in which case the entire phrase would read "...which is taken to mean that the effect on compatibility is nil...," etc.

Explanation:
I would prefer to translate it as "... which is interpreted as the effect on compatibility is negligible" but that is probably too free a translation.

Explanation:
I would recommend your changing the order of your sentence. It conveys the same idea...

Hope it helps.
