In Peru, among other countries, this rank comes above Capítan de Corbeta and below Capitán de Navío. It is equivalent to NATO OF-4.

agree  Christine Walsh: It was my father's rank, and it was translated like this. Saludos :) // He was born in Argentina, joined the RNVR during the war, married my mother in the UK, and when the 3 of us came to Argentina he became a reserve officer in the Argentine navy.
