Proviene de una familia sencilla en la que su padre trabajaba como empleado en el Puerto de San Antonio y su madre era profesora. El se crió en Santo Domingo, tuvo una infancia simple, con pocos recursos económicos y apoyo de parte de sus padres para que estudiara, practicara deportes y llevara a cabo sus sueños. En el último año de educación media realizó un intercambio en EEUU y una vez finalizada la universidad y ya trabajando decidió hacer un MBA en Harvard.

Explanation:
"means" = bienestar material

aunque los dos padres estaban trabajando, no hace mención de cuántos hijos había en total, y más tarde pone "con pocos recursos económicos", lo que me hace pensar que "sencilla" se refiere también al nivel económico de la familia

Bueno y dirás, ¿a qué tanta insistencia? Desde luego, tienes otras muchas maneras de decirlo.

Depende de a quién vaya dirigido el texto.

Últimamanete alguno de mis clientes británicos del tercer sector insisten en un lenguaje menos eufemístico en sus comunicaciones externas. Los españoles por el contrario siguen prefiriendo un enfoque más pc. Son puntos de vista.

En cualquier caso, tampoco veo la necesidad de repetir 'poor', pero quizá te encaje para uno de los dos casos.
