Spanish term or phrase: food pantry / kitchen soup
Hi! I'm looking for a term to refer to "comedor comunitario". what about kichen soup or food pantry? Is there any difference between them? Are both used in the US? (I'm translating into American English) Do people actually eat in these places or do they take food to their homes? Can they be set up by an individual or it's always an organization? thanks a lot!

agree  eesegura: Food pantry generally does not have fresh food that will spoil, such as fresh vegetables and meat, but does have canned and other foods.

Kitchen soup

Explanation:
Siempre que he tenido que traducir "comedor popular/comunitario" para la OMS lo he hecho empleando el término "kitchen soup". Espero poder ayudar. Suerte!

No estoy segura de la diferencia entre ambos términos, pero sé que kitchn soup aplica bien.

neutral  eesegura: "Kitchen soup" is soup that is made in the kitchen, whereas "soup kitchen" is a kitchen where the souple is prepared. Soup kitchen has become a term for kitchens that serve the needy - and the food is not limited to just soup.
