Spanish to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc. / Social Work | | Spanish term or phrase: autonomía de las personas usuarias | | This term talks about the people who receive the services of a social worker. I looked around a bit and in US terms they seem to consider them the "clients" of social workers. But I'm not satisfied with this translation. Does anybody have a better ideas? |

Social workers don't view patients as being "sick", so the term client came into use about 25 years ago. It's an important part of their training. (My housemate is a clinical social worker, and I have been a 'client' myself.)

Actually, the usage dates back much longer than 25 years. |
