\"Capacidades\" means something quite different from needs...and it does not refer to any sort of \"problem\" necessarily, more correctly to different \"abilities\", sometimes highers, in making things.

Children with Special Abilities Procedure

Annually, a teacher will be given the responsibility for providing leadership in the area of special programmes for children with high abilities.

A team of interested teachers to support the teacher in charge will form a committee to deal with issues relating to able children each year. The committee is responsible for monitoring the extension and enrichment budget, evaluating programmes, setting budget priorities fro the following year and reporting to the BOT. The teacher in charge writes and delivers the report.

Areas of special ability may fall under any one of Gardner\'s eight areas of intelligence - Logical-mathematical, Linguistic, Bodily-kinaesthetic, Spatial, musical, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal and Naturalist.

The identification of able students will depend heavily on teacher recognition of children who fit basically into the Renzulli model of having above average ability, high task commitment and/or a high level of creativity. It is important for teachers to try to identify potential as well as high achievement.
