home and away gear?
Explanation:
Y'know, like Madrid playing white at home and black away. A thought :-)

Not to be found in my dictionaries either, \"equipación\" linked to sport and uniforms does comes out heaps in Google. This link shows three uniforms for the same rugby team (primera, segunda y tercera equipación): http://www.universitariobilbao.com/equipacion_senior_cast.ht...
It should have been \"equipo\" (equipmemt) but because this is also \"team\", equipación was bastardly coined in some fields like sports\' ,meaning something like the act of \"equipar el equipo\" (equip the team with sports gear). Why not \"equipamiento\" then? Beats me... A ghost word indeed. :-)

home strip and change/away strip

Explanation:
I think this is what they are talking about Ailish. The strip being the 'kit' or 'gear' a team wears. Logically they would have to put 'corporate image' on both strips. All teams have a change strip for when their colours coincide with another team's.
Hope this helps

You can also refer to \'home strip\' as \'main strip\' as teams normally use their \'main strip\' for away matches too

1st and 2nd strings

Explanation:
Not sure, but I think they're referring to the first team they field (1st string) and the back-up team (2nd string)

Explanation:
