"penetrations" is simply too formal for sports tactics, can you imagine the managing using it in a pre-match team talk, the players would all be sniggering....
I'm no handball fan but the term is used a lot in football and rugby

BTW in handball the defence is very tight, the attackers advance and when they don't find a hole or gap they pass the ball back or sideways. i.e. they go forward and backward - up and down like the waves of the sea :@) attacking waves...... ;@) |

| Grading comment Thanks to everyone. This translation suited my text better because it is aimed at younger readers. I think that "incessant incursions" would be a good option in another case, though.
