Spanish to English translations [PRO] Sports / Fitness / Recreation | | Spanish term or phrase: deporte de rendimiento (a Q for EN-speaker sports pros, or aspiring/near-pros) | El deporte de rendimiento se define como aquél que se practica con el objetivo finalista del resultado de la competición.
I have little other context, as this is a questionnaire. The section entitled 'DEPORTE DE RENDIMIENTO' has TWO subsections:
Deporte Professional
Deporte de Espectaculo
I wonder would COMPETITION SPORTS' be OK, with 'PROFESSIONAL SPORTS' and 'SPECTATOR SPORTS' as the sub-section titles?
Another question is - to contrast the ideas - if in the English-speaking world there is the concept of 'PERFORMANCE SPORTS'?
Any light thrown on the distinctions by native English speaker sportspeople would be appreciated.
TIA :-) |

| Grading comment Thanks Gabriel, this is the correct term, thanks also to L & C for all the supporting evidence, I would have gone for competitive sports too, but I think the meaning of high performance is very specific:-) 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |

1 hr confidence: competitive sports
Explanation: This is what I seem to find as the best solution.

Also note that a search on \"performance sports\" on google returns almost no true hits (except organizations named Performance Sports and \"high-performance sports supplements)

Here is an interesting comment from an article (http://www.efdeportes.com/efd18a/democ.htm)
>>>>>>>

Given this, \"competitive sports\" makes the most sense.
(As you can tell, I was intrigued by this KudoZ question!)
