Spanish term or phrase: cascos y chichoneras
In terms of head protective gear/cycling equipment, my helpful dictionary gives me 'helmets' for both terms.

Could anyone let me know if there is a difference between the two?

helmets and head guards

Explanation:
cascos are hard helmets and chichoneras soft padded head protection, known as head guards
however, maybe it s enough to use helmets here as a general term. those head guards are not really common for cycling
