Restoration has been historically accurate. For example . . . the roof is carried by oak perlines . . . rafters cut from local swamp sour gum carry the perlines . . . first course flitches are covered with copper cloth, to simulate "birch bark" . . . inside flitches exposed . . . outside to the weather, cut on one aide to snug! etc, etc. The construction site is now looking more like a house with the roof taking shape. All the rafters are up and half of the perlines were cut and nailed on today. Electric wire is being run, the breaker panel was put in and a ground rod was driven in 10’ with a hammer. Electric boxes were being cut into the block. Reference: http://www.victron.com/dae_ryung.htm Reference: http://www.dreamcatchersresort.com/accommod.html |

purlin Explanation: From my days as a framer I remember the term purlin used in roof framing. The context you give suggests it might be what you want. Random House Dictionary of the English Language gives it this definition: " a longitudinal member in a roof frame, usually for supporting common rafters or the like...." Hope this helps. |

purlins Explanation: Purlins are horizontal structural members. The word is usually used for the supporting structure of a roof, but at least this guess seems more likely than lining steps with beads. |
