15 horsepower, BUT... Explanation: The standard for the definition of Horsepower varies depending on which Standards the specification applies to. In USA, the engine power specifications are based on the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), so a 15 HP rating based on the American SAE standard is a very small power, just about the same as a lawn mowing tractor. However, the French use a different standard for Horsepower rating and Citroen produce the world-famous 2 CV (2 Horsepower Citroen) which is still available and is comparable to the old VW Bug. In Germany the standard is DIN. So German cars may be rated as 150 HP (DIN) for example. Hope this clarifies the issue a little beyond your simple question of "15 CV". Regards. Luis Luis |
