I have translated this sentence, using variations on 'alter/alteration etc'& 'outcrop'. I would like to have sentences to compare.

But not 'orientados'; in geological terms, what exactly is 'this tendency to be 'orientados' and can it be translated as 'oriented'?

Explanation:
Check this sentence, Ailish: "Shape-controlling factors prevailed during growth, shown by parallelism of oriented internal features to outer boundaries, regardless of shape, from crystal centers to margins" (link 1). Layman me thinks that's the idea behind "oriented". Also, you're right with "alteration" and "outcrop" (link 2). Quite, you're very well oriented. Good luck with it, cheers :)
