Spanish term or phrase: baño de oro por tampón
Context: metalworking company that manufactures anodized products and other coated metal products. "Baño de oro" is easy: gold plating. But the "tampón" used in the process baffles me. Is it a buffer, a dabber...or something completely different?
It rings a bell of a job I did some time ago.
Please check this link, hope it helps.

Your response and the metalization link you gave--which I've just visited--have been most helpful.
I've decided on "buffered gold plating." Thank you.
