Spanish term or phrase: ingeniero proyectista
For a CV. This refrigeration engineer explains that his job as 'proyectista' was a mixture of draughting and designing - is there a specific term in English?

DESIGN ENGINEER
Explanation:
Opposite to what most people, particularly Spanish native speakers, ingeniero proyectista is not translated into English as project engineer because it does not convey the true meaning of the Spanish original. An ingeniero proyectista is he/she who makes the design of something.

Thanks for your help. Talking to my client about what he did as a 'ingeniero proyectista' it became evident that your
translation, 'design engineer', was the most accurate. Many derivatives of the word 'proyecto' get mistranslated as
something based on 'project' when they are really talking about plans.
