Suerte! Experience and English/Spanish Technical Dictionary of Louis A Robb and Javier L Collazo |

RATED VOLTAGE Explanation: That is the voltage for which the electrical appliance involved was designed to work with. As a rule, most manufacturers slightly underate their products in their nameplates so as to allow for voltage variations normally occurring in power supply lines. Hope this helps. Good luck! |

voltage, current, characteristics - what's the diff? Explanation: I've already emailed this directly to the three people most involved, but decided to also add it to the page for anyone else looking. Voltage refers to the force with which electricity is impulsed. Current refers to the joules per second flowing through. Wattage is the resulting power, after voltage and current meet resistance, impedance and a number of other electrical parameters. It is important that these NOT be mixed up - "rated current" is not the same as nominal voltage, and "electrical characteristics" include voltage, current, wattage and sometimes other parameters. 5 volts will not cause serious harm. 5 amps (current) will leave a person extremely dead. |
