Hi again Proz,
The actual word is cañuela - does this spelling make a difference?? I have looked everywhere and I also thought it may be a typo but with the spelling as is - I'm not so sure!
Thanks

Explanation:
Jenette sorry to be boring, it's me again, but I've found the technical word in English for cañuela - it's "came", see the reference below.

Too recondite for most situations, so I'd use the word "lead" which everyone (?) will understand, but it's nice to know the "real McCoy".

Leads in the lead-light,

Explanation:
Well, cañuela is a reed, (and Marcus a kind of fescue), but I think we go back to my previous answer: and I'm more certain now.

NO, EUREKA, take a look at this:
http://mx.geocities.com/drak_vitrales/laton.htm

It's the "leading", the metal that joins the sections of glass protecting the lamp or gas mantle. In the web reference the stained glass maker uses brass instead of the more usual lead which is softer and easier to work.

Lead, or beading

Explanation:
sorry I should have put my previous answer in the singular.

Chambers 20th Century gives:
lead: a leaden frame for a window-pane.

I can't find any synonym in English: anyone else had any joy?

Beading: the lightweight wooden moulding between panes of glass in a window.
