It is also used in Brazilian Portuguese and in Spain we call it "embrague".

Here you have a sample text from a South American website (www.tucarro.com) where you get advices about how to drive when it rains...

"Si por alguna razón el carro se colea lo primero que hay que hacer es conservar la calma para poder controlar el vehículo. Al colearse el conductor tiende a quitar bruscamente el pie del acelerador, lo que empeora la acción y puede desencadenar un accidente, por lo que se aconseja no quitar el pie del acelerador. Utilice las velocidades para recortar la marcha, si es sincrónico NO PISAR EL CROCHE."
