comunidad de antenas antenna array Explanation: I believe it refers to the "antenna array" (on Earth) that will be receiving the data from the satellite. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 20 mins (2005-05-14 20:49:35 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I don\'t think that \"comunidad de antenas\" is a standard term in satellite communications. I think it simply means \"group of antennas\". Now we have to figure out whether it refers to the antennas on Earth receiving the signals, or the antennas on the spacecraft emitting the signals. I believe it\'s the first case, i.e. the group of antennas on Earth, the antenna array. I don\'t think it\'s the second because you don\'t have large numbers of antennas on spacecraft (which is what the word \"comunidades\" makes me think). On a spacecraft you have one antenna (usually a big parabolic antenna) that communicates with the earth, and you may have other smaller antennas (parabolic, horn, or other) that help the components of a spacecraft communicate with one another. E.g. you may have an orbiter that goes around a planet and a lander, and you have an antenna on the orbiter and an antenna on the lander; the two antennas communicate with each other. I\'d hardly call this \"comunidad de antenas\". Unless I\'m not understanding well the word comunidad. |
