Spanish term or phrase: comisariado / comisario
Contexts: "proyecto de comisariado" and "comisariado por XX"

Normally I would use some form of "organise" for the verb and perhaps "curator" for the person, but elsewhere in the text it says another institution has organised the exhibition, whereas this person/project is responsible for the design/running of it (I assume)

commissioner
Explanation:
Should do the trick. Sounds a bit high falutin' to us but simply means someone (officially) commissioned to do the job. Also "comisionado"...

You could call it a "coordinator" if you prefer.

Unfortunately I have a problem with "commissioner" in the context of exhibitions, as after a search on the Internet it doesn't seem to be used at all with the meaning of the Spanish term. I think "coordinator" is perhaps better, though I believe that, in at least some cases, the Spanish term means the person who has actually designed/created the exhibition.
