Explanation:
Known in France as "gîte" - a rural self-catering cottage usually rented for short (vacation) periods. Country house is OK if it's a larger one...

There are actually 2 types. One is for short (holiday) stays, for several people, the other is usually rented or bought by a family/couple/individual for long term residence.

Explanation:
I'm assuming you're talking about for tourists.

I've never been to a casa rural (as a tourist) in Spain that was a cottage, or what I would call a bed & breakfast. The ones I've seen were just accommodation in farmhouses, rural areas or on the outskirts of villages. I think you might want to go with as neutral an answer as possible, because there is some variety. Assuming you're talking about Spain, of course!

Limited service. Guest rooms are decorated with an at-home feeling, and specialized décor may include antiques. May lack some modern amenities such as TVs or phones. Offers a dining room which reflects the ambience of the inn. At a minimum, breakfast and dinner are served. Parking may be limited.

When my family and I would go on vacation in the winter, far from the city, we always stayed in a cabin. It all depends on the context in which you use your phrase. (Cuando mi familia y yo fuimos de vacaciones, lejos de la ciudad, siempre nos quedabamos en una cabina (cabin). Todo depende del texto en que usas tu frase.
