Spanish to English translations [PRO] Tourism & Travel | | Spanish term or phrase: estancias hoteleras modernas...
Talking about the Hotel Palazzo Bauer in Venice. Could someone explain this sentence to me? Because as far as I can ascertain, this is not a modern hotel, in fact it has very old-fashioned elegant decor. Hmmmm
The whole paragraph reads:
Thanks

| | | hotel's modern wing | Explanation: This included a careful, ground-up restoration of the 18th-century 'palazzo' on the Grand Canal, to which an original 17th-century facade, in Gothic-Byzantine style, was added, and the construction of a completely new wing on the Campo San Moisè, designed in the architectural style of the day. Among the highlights of this renovation was the addition of the 7th floor terrace, Settimo Cielo, still the highest outdoor terrace in Venice, as well as the introduction of the central heating and air conditioning, amenities that were exceptional for those years. When the Bauer reopened in 1949, it was the most up-to-date hotel in Venice.

The above is the hotel's website in English. They are talking about the newish section/part of the hotel (1940's), which they refer to as a wing (much nicer than section, which was going to be my original suggestion). |

14 mins confidence: peer agreement (net): +1 modern hotel facilities
Explanation: I think the terms "estancias hoteleras modernas..." refers to the Leading Hotels of the World. When we look at those leading hotels and arrive to Hotel Palazzo Bauer , we don't have in mind to encounter such a beautifull XVIII century stylish hotel , but a modern hotel with a XVIII front fully redecorated on the inside.
At least that what i think....Hope it helped :)
