Spanish term or phrase: el vacío de sus bosques de piedra
Cuenca capital

La bruma de sus hoces y el vacío de sus bosques de piedra

I don't think "emptiness" works here. Any alternatives?

solitude/silence
Explanation:
Hi Adam,

Might fit the bill, if you're lloking for something slightly more enticing that 'emptiness' or barrenness'.

Good luck!

Maybe coupled with 'serene' - 'serene solitude', but it doesn't leave much room for the reader to decide how to enjoy his or her solitude! ;O) ;O)

Lots of possibilities here - in the end I went with "serenity" an expansion of your ideas - thanks!

the barren solitude of its stone forests

Explanation:
Or:

"stony forests"

This would, I think, work better than any of the single adjectives hitherto proposed.

Suerte.
