There are several good answers here. I think Momo's interpretation of 'arabism' in English is right, ie, in English, it is used in linguistics (like 'anglicism'), whereas in Spanish it has 2 meanings, the 1st being "ideología del nacionalismo arabe" in my Larousse, the other being the linguistic one we all know.
By quintessence, I don't mean as in "the quintessential Englishman" (a common usage), but as in the 1st definition out of: "being the most essential part, form, or embodiment of something" (Chambers)
