Spanish term or phrase: en loor/olor de multitudes
It´s about Gaudí again.
Fue enterrado, ***en loor de multitudes***, en la cripta de la Sagrada Familia.
Have not managed to find an English equivalent for this saying, and am not entirely sure that I understand it's meaning. Thanks in advance for your help. ;)

Explanation:
this isn't to say that people were rejoicing at his death...

the expression "olor de sanctitud" (odour of sanctity) implies that the person met with a great deal of approval. The replacement of sanctitud with multitudes seems to require something more to do with the populace/common people - he was loved by everybody: hence "popular"

Btw, I'm glad to hear this, as I thought poor old Gaudi met an ignominious death beneath a Barcelona tram, and that nobody knew who he was for ages...

But I must be confusing him with another famous Catalan
