Spanish term or phrase: nueve millones de desplazamientos
En los glosarios de Proz hay bastantes traducciones de "desplazamiento" y algunos más de "desplazamientos", pero ninguno de ellos sirve perfectamente a este contexto.

"Desplazamientos" se utiliza mucho en España para referirse a las personas (más bien a los vehículos) que viajan, en el presente contexto, de forma masiva, en los fines de semana, fiestas, comienzos y finales de vacaciones, etc.

Así por ejemplo se dice. "La guardia civil ha previsto que se producirán más de 9 millones de desplazamientos en un sólo día, por comienzo de las vacaciones de verano..."

Por mi parte encuentro:

"9 million journeys" or "9 million people on the move" "9 million transfers". Pero supongo que habrá alternativas mejores.

agree  bigedsenior: it has to be people and not cars/vehicles, because I would extimate that the average car will be carrying 2-3 people - 2.5 x9 =24 million is more than half the population in one day! unlikely
