cerrar una venta, concluir un contrato, Sería una de las fases dentro de una secuencia de pasos. Si por la razón que sea una entidad debe "cerrar una venta" y no tan solo "reservar o bloquear" una serie de espacios o apartamentos, en ese caso, con el dinero del cliente o la firma del contrato ya en la mano, esa "reserva" pasa a un nuevo "estado", el de "venta cerrada".

Interesting thing is also that "cerrar ventas" is also "to close sales", which means to consummate them; quite the opposite of this case. Shows why context is so important.

I think cerrar ventas is not due to overbooking, it could be anything, flood, structural problems, etc. Bloques seems to me to refer to block bookings

I have tried to maintain the ambiguity (nonsense) of the statement somewhat to avoid possible legal problems for my agency - "If at any moment any establishment is forced to cease sales for a period of time that falls within the dates which have been blocked, the hotel shall reimburse 50% of the amount due for the blocked rooms at the hotel in question."

There is no prior or subsequent reference to the "bloqueo", so I would assume that this is the same as "cerrar ventas".
