Spanish term or phrase: canalizar
Not keen on 'channel' as a translation here, as I don´t see how you can 'channel' tourism meetings' or the sector. Suggestions welcome! Thanks.

harness

Explanation:
I think it means to able to control it, direct it, take advantage of it. I don't really think that channel is that bad of an option, but I think harness could work.

pienso que se puede emplear en este contexto de la frase. otra alternativa es la palabra "arrange".

Explanation:
Eso es lo que me viene a la cabeza: ocuparse de todo lo que este tipo de turismo precisa. Implica, a mi juicio, algo más que "organize, manage...".

The idea is not "channelling or harnessing" this type of customers, I think. Rather, the SCCB sees itself as the channel that customers must take if they want to have all their needs provided for.

Channel

Explanation:
I know you said you don't like the word channel, but I think it's a word specific to the tourist industry. The Travel Industry Dictionary defines it as:

3. Any distinct part of a distribution system through which a supplier reaches a customer. For example, for a cruise line, third party web sites, storefront travel agencies, and home-based travel agents represent separate channels.
http://www.hometravelagency.com/dictionary/channel.html

In your case they're simply using it as a verb. As here:

▸ verb: direct the flow of ("Channel infomartion towards a broad audience")

If you still don't like the word channel, perhaps you
could use the definition "direct the flow of" as an alternative.

Or perhaps you could change the verb to a noun and say, "be a channel for..."

localize

Explanation:
I agree with you that "channel" does not fit here. The word "harness" brings to mind a horse, so I would also stay away from that one. "Organize" fits communicatively, but the imagery of "channel" is gone. I came up with "localize" because it accomplishes the communicative task and feels more like "channel" in that it draws on something specific. Hope this makes sense.

channeling- p/see translation

Explanation:
The "SCCB" ( ) was implemented in the year 2000. The capture and channeling of tourist meetings was the main reason for its creation.

Channeling gives it strength as to point out to a narrow corridor/ path.

Explanation:
I also like channel. But if you don't then *direct* might be the word to use. If one is channeling meetings (conventions) then they are directing/guiding them to be held in the Santiago de Compestela region.
