Spanish term or phrase: beña
Context: concerns traditional mud homes in Ecuador. The homes are very low/small and the author is explaining why:
"That’s why anyone visiting the house was obliged to bow down as they went in and this type of 'bow' was a greeting of profund respect."
I am not sure whether this is a typo because I can't find it anywhere. If it is, can anyone suggest the correct word/spelling?

bowing / nodding of the head
Explanation:
In the DRAE, if you look up "beña", you are sent to venia, whose third meaning says:

So you got it right: "bow" or "nod".
