"Sedentism" may be "recondito" but, given the context (something that happened 5,000 years ago), I believe it is an appropriate option (see google links above). "Sedentary", although is probably not incorrect, reminds me of people that do not exercise, in modern world. As for "settlement" and the like, well, if the Spanish text wanted to say it, it would have used "asentamiento" or the like, but of course they also are good options. I just don't like when people say my answer is not good when they probably have not studied the subject enough, which makes me want to "defend" my answer.

Sorry about the vent...
