Tourism & Travel / Heritage preservation | | Spanish term or phrase: torre de homenaje | Is the literal translation used for this? I have found it in many places but have never heard it before. Or is it something else?

The alternative would be 'donjon', so take your pick according to the context. A literal translation wouldn't be a good idea! |

It is true though that the literal translation seems to be used fairly frequently as well. I don't know if those sources can be said to be 100% reliable though.
