Spanish term or phrase: CHACHI
Part of a list of comments about Tenerife. This is the orginal text I received, written by a non-native. I presume this is a term used in Tenerife/the Canary Islands. Anybody know what it means? Ta!

Minutes of glorious …nearly ending this magnificent flight , can believe how lucky I am jumping in paragliding from the mountain just to end up in Socorro beach , …ohhh here we go , bend my knees towards my stomach and …ohhhhh we got to the end. When I thank everyone , I stop for one second and enjoy the moment , take a deep breath and once more I think … I cant believe I jumped up from a mountain just to end up landing by the sea , blue crispy sky and crystalline sea water….**CHACHI** another day in paradise

COOL!
Explanation:
Used to be "guay", but that's kind of old fashioned already. HTH.

I also say "WICKED" but I think I'm getting old. The kids probably cringe.
There are many options here, but "cool" would be the better, safer, more standard one IMO.

Cheers, Kate! This is exactly what I had in mind, going on the context, but I'd never heard the word before so wasn´t sure.

agree  Parrot: In the range of registers between "neat" and "cool", this case is "cool"

  -> Cheers James! Saludos! :)

agree  Ian in Spain: Just to note that the term "Chachi" is common here in Madrid too, it's not just an island term. In Northern Ireland we would say "Sticking out!" but that is somewhat insular I dare say!

-> Haha: that's pretty regional I reckon! Where I originally come from in Pembrokeshire, we'd say "safe", "sound", "tidy", or even "standard" or "proper" to mean "chachi"! :) ;D

agree  Noni Gilbert: Brill was my first reaction, but again, too old-fashioned I fear! Cool is cool....
12 hrs
-> Yep. Thanks Noni! Think "cool" is the standard. I've started saying "fab" recently, and again, the younger people roll their eyes... Saludos!

agree  María T. Vargas: It's also used in Andalusia, I think everywhere in Spain now

-> Yep- all the kids in my classes in Granada were using this already a few years ago... Gracias María!

agree  Gilla Evans: yes, or a retro "wow"
13 hrs
-> Or a cheesy "Yeah!" or "Alright!" if "cool" won't do! :) Thanks Gila.
