Es más que probable que al hablar de bufones, se piense en aquellos juglares, que nos hacían reír en aquellas películas de caballeros y lanceros, que fueron pintados por Velázquez, Goya y otros..pero en Asturias ésta palabra, quizás, deriva por analogía de bufido, ruido extraño que produce un animal cuando está enojado y eso es lo que ocurre, en ciertos lugares de la rasa que va desde Ribadesella a Pimiango, en la costa oriental asturiana, al haber unas características geológicas poco corrientes.

Explanation:
In Asturias and Cantabria.

"The Bufones de Arenillas is the largest blowhole on the coast of Asturias, with spurts of up 40 metres high. Formed by karstic and wave action. Nearby is similarly large Bufón de Santiuste."
