I agree with carmen, it depends a lot on the target audience. I like "trails" for US English target, but it wouldn't be as appropriate for UK English target. UK English is more likely to use: footpath, path, track, etc. depending on exact characteristics.
You really have many options that are all good as evidenced in all the answers given. What country is this for? I think a great deal would depend on the preference of the target audience!
