Does this just mean "local markets", or is it something else?

I eventually called it "proximity markets" because it referred to exports later. I think in the context I gave they were referring to national tourists (the home/domestic market)rather than foreigners, but am not really sure. Thanks all for the help yet again :-)

local or near-home tourism markets

Explanation:
I think "near-home" is rather American and would sound a bit odd in British English, although it would be perfectly comprehensible. But I think this idea of "proximity" tourism designed to attract people who are not travelling very far is normally referred to as "local".

Forgot to put the references I found. That's what happens when you go away on holiday... There are many US references to this "near-home" idea, but most refer to the same publication.

Asker: What if the context was food exports rather than tourism? Would it still be the same? I'm wondering, because I think they tend to use "proximity" a lot in the sense of closer to the customer in an affective sense, your friendly nighbourhood supermarket, etc...

Asker: It can be an adjective, as in "a nearby house/pub/ garage etc... or perhaps an adverb, but I don't really like it for this context though, but then I'm a bit picky...
