travel rate

travel rate

"Travel behaviour" is a good term when discussing people's habits, and you may also need to distinguish "leisure travel" from people who commute to work (referred to as travel-rate index, which is the amount of time spent travelling to work)

Hi Merry, Yes, I think it is travel rate (I was trying to say that it is not travel-rate index). However, you need to distinguish it at some point from commuter travel, so if there is no explanation elsewhere in your text, I would use "leisure travel rate"

Notes to answerer
Asker: Emma: This was very helpful. So, it's not travel rate (which refers to commuter travel time). I use travel behavior in other situations in this report, but this needs to be a noun phrase, as I noted in my response above to Dekken. Any other ideas? Maybe foreign travel rate, that would clearly distinguish it from commuter travel.

Asker: Thank you for your help. I'm opting to use Travel Rate because I need a noun phrase and the next-best suggestion, travel frequency, would not, I think, be expressed in terms of a % of the population, which is what the results in this study show.

Merry, it does seem to be used also as a noun phrase in the sites I have provided links to, eg. analysis to determine travel frequency, travel frequency estimate, in the sense of how often people travel. You could say "travel frequency/frequency of travel among the Spanish population"

Notes to answerer
Asker: I like this very much for the second example, but tasa viajera is used so frequently in ways that demand I use a noun phrase as well, and % of travelers doesn't seem very precise since it's not really the % of people who travel but a % reflecting the number of (in this case) foreign trips per total population. Any other ideas?

Asker: Thank you for your help. I'm opting to use Travel Rate because I don't think travel frequency would yield a % of the population and that's what the results in this study show.
