El Real Sitio era un lugar concebido para el disfrute del ocio y la naturaleza, y también para que los más pequeños de la regia familia gozaran de las maravillas de un conjunto de jardines, huertas, bosques y palacios donde hasta los elementos más prácticos se planteaban para ser vistos o usados como entretenimiento. Paseos de árboles, granjas de animales domésticos o exóticos, presas, norias, sorpresas pintorescas asombraban y divertían por igual a niños y a mayores, dando a veces la impresión de que los aristocráticos adultos regresaban a la infancia entre juegos y distracciones. No se ha escrito una Historia infantil de Aranjuez, pero lo que queda de entonces y lo que se ha recuperado ofrece un abanico de oportunidades por descubrir, que justifica un divertido recorrido por este Paisaje Cultural que ha sido declarado por la UNESCO Patrimonio de la Humanidad.

(Del ár. hisp. na‘úra, y este del ár. clás. nā‘ūrah, infl. por acequia y acenia).

1. f. Máquina compuesta de dos grandes ruedas engranadas que, mediante cangilones, sube el agua de los pozos, acequias, etc.

2. f. Pozo, de forma comúnmente ovalada, del cual se saca el agua con esta máquina.

3. f. Artilugio de feria consistente en una gran rueda con asientos que gira verticalmente.
