gallagy2: another vote for "quest"//think "cult" has very negative connotations these days as neilmac points out and quest is not just scientific but all knowledge. (and in quest for Holy Grail and not just Monty Python either!;-)

Deborah Lockett: I think "cult of knowledge" fits well because these are two very important religious figures and "cult" is a direct reference to spiritual knowledge (as opposed to a quest for scientific knowledge)

-> After reading your comment and muses', I searched for references. Quest comes up more than cult, but that could be only because quest has a certain ring to it.

neilmac: I agree with Debs. Cult is fine but there may be reservations about the negative associations of "cult" (Manson, Jim Jones, Rev. Moon...), and quest is nice and Tolkienian.
