Spanish term or phrase:paso de Abraham
A text describes how a village in Andalusia stages what is called El Paso at Easter, which consists of enactments of the last days of Christ. This seems to fit the definition of a "passion play", but in that case what does "paso" mean in this passage, describing the first day of El Paso:
Explanation: When God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac.
It is the last part of the fiesta and there is a reading of the biblical passage done in psalmic style.
I think that what's confusing here is that "paso" has several meanings. The passage of Abraham is a "paso", or float, or procession, or statue/image. I've lived in Andaluca many many years, I've seen them firshand. The sites below have photos also.
In this case, I stand by my original answer. A "paso" can be the image of the saint, or the procession. If they are doing something on stage, then it's the statue of the representation of Abraham they are referring to, "the statue/image of Abraham"
The text is quite explicit that in this unique case, the village of Iznate, the Stages of the Cross do not take the form of a procession but rather enactments by live actors on a fixed stage.

statue/image of Abraham

Wow! I\'m glad I looked up other references, it seems that the name of this \"paso\" is translated \"The passage of Abraham\", I didn\'t know that . I assumed that it was referring to the image itself of Abraham. I found several sites where they refer to this paso in this way. So I change my answer to \"The passage of Abraham\".
Easter: During the Easter, 31 passages of 13 brotherhoods are procesionan by the streets of Alcaudete. Most outstanding of this religious celebration it is the interpretation, with texts of century XIII, of liturgical scenes as they are \"the passage of Abraham\", \"the sale of Jesus\", \"the repentance of Judas\", \"the good and bad thief\", \"the apostles\" and \"the sentence\".
