Explanation:
I'm assuming that 'un partido de antología ' refers to a football match in the previous sentence and that, logically, 'una faena redonda' refers to some aspect of bull-fighting.

I'm no bull-fighting expert (or lover, come to that...) but in that world I believe 'faena' refers to the 'kill'. Here in Chile when my neighbours talk about the slaughter of animals (goats, calves, etc.) for the traditional Sunday afternoon spit-roast the word 'faena' comes up regularly.

Thanks to Mediamatrix and Muriel for pointing out the parallel structure that ought to have been obvious to me. I think that Media's option makes the bullfighting reference clear in a way that Tom's choice does not (even though "an excellent performance" is an accurate translation of the term, and would work well in other contexts).
