Cuando el conductor quiere que el vehículo siga una trayectoria curva, gira el volante en ese sentido, este movimiento se transmite a través de la columna de dirección hasta el mecanismo distribuidor del sistema de asistencia, como las ruedas oponen una elevada resistencia a ser giradas se produce el giro de la barra de torsión existente en el distribuidor sin producir el movimiento del mecanismo, //// una vez torsionada la barra ///, el movimiento del volante se transmite al piñón y de este a la barra de cremallera,desplazándola longitudinalmente.
