En mi libro, un protagonista vive en un ático. Entiendo lo que significa, el útimo piso de un edificio pero no me ocurre una traducción en francés aparte de "le dernier étage d'un appartement". Existe un equivalente? Había pensado en "penthouse" pero no es realmente lo mismo.

Il faudrait savoir où habite le personnage...
Ma proposition fait plutôt Paris/bohème/on était jeunes etc (tu connais la chanson), tout dépend du contexte.
Un logement "mansardé" implique aussi un ou des murs inclinés.

neutral  Thierry LOTTE: Bien d'accord avec toi pour ton commentaire sur un "logement mansardé" ! Mais, en Espagne, un "attico" ne peut en aucun cas être "sous les toits". Ce serait contraire à la définition même du terme et à l'architecture locale..Mais, c'est une bonne propos.
