Excepté dans le cas où cette participation à ce groupe ne se fait pas moyennant adhésion/inscription formelle.

Si tu veux spécifier que cette interruption de ta participation est un arrêt d'activités (et non d'association de ton nom à telle activité, soit se désinscrire, de désabonner), alors tu pourras dire que tu "quittes le groupe" ou que tu "te retire du groupe", tout simplement.
