Patología cervical no traumática
Lo mas frecuente es la contractura muscular. También pude ser psicógeno.
Columna degenerativa.
La hernia cervical aguda es muy rara. Se da en jóvenes solo. El inicio es por u traumatismo. No hay en mayores de 60 años.
La patología mas crónica, la que no se recuerda el inicio no es por hernia, sino degeneración. Es la espondilosis cervical. Es diferente de la artrosis, que seria la degeneración de la articulación intervertebral posterior.
El disco se deshidrata, degenera y pierde altura. Las apófisis unciformes contactan y degeneran, haciéndose la articulación mas inestable. Esto se intenta compensar aumentando la superficie de contacto, con lo que aparecen los osteofitos, que disminuyen la luz del agujero de conjunción y dan lugar al pinzamiento. En este caso la articulación intervertebral posterior e la única que es estable, llevando ella por consiguiente la carga . Por esto acaba teniendo artrosis


Cervicobraquialgia subaguda o crónica. Se piensa en hernia de disco solo cuando es agudo y en pacientes jóvenes. Cuando es subaguda hay protusión del disco, lo que se llama hernia dura (no es el núcleo pulposo el que protuye). Hay dolor en el cuello que se irradia al brazo.
