Pues cuando empezaron mis desastres, se aprovechaban de mis apuros para hacer su negocio. En vez de ayudarme, tiraban de la cuerda para estrangularme más pronto. Me veían devorada por la usura, y no eran para ofrecerme un préstamo en buenas condiciones. Ellos pudieron salvarme y me dejaron perecer. Y cuando me veía yo obligada a vender mis muebles, ellos me compraban, por un pedazo de pan, la sillería dorada de la sala y los cortinones de seda... Estaban al acecho de las gangas, y al verme perdida, amenazada de un embargo, claro... se presentaban como salvadores...
